Triple-glazing works A review of Novotel Brussels Centre
Five minutes walk from the city centre and although it is on a busy road the triple-glazing which is a feature of modern Novotels works a treat. We went for a pre-Christmas break when the Grand Place, surely Europe's finest square, was sensationally illuminated and there were 200 and more Christmas market stalls dotted around the city centre. Much livelier than London or our nearest city Oxford at this time of year. Brussels is also perfect for day trips to Bruges, Antwerp and Ghent - all an hour or less on the train. Our 12-year-old went ice-skating daily on the outdoor rinks which are a seasonal feature of all these cities. Excellent buffet breakfast at the Novotel, although British guests might be surprised to see both smokers and dog owners imposing their addictions and pets on other breakfast guests. A couple of drawbacks: The so-called swimming pool is miniscule .... and the 3-bedded room which we specifically booked turned out to be a double and a couple of rickety sofa beds.
