Timing is everything! A review of Miracle Springs Hotel and Spa

We attended an Elderhostel based in this hotel, therefore we had no choice. I did read the reviews before we went on the trip however and I had some trepidations. We checked in a day before our group, a Saturday, and the hotel was full of families enjoying the last weekend of the holiday season. Our room smelled like smoke or perhaps inroom cooking by our neighbors. We were assisted moving immediately. We had a standard outside second floor room with a view of the parking lot, due to our group rate. It was comfortable, and after the holiday families left pretty quiet. It was an room with an adjoining room door, and our neighbors could be heard too clearly. . The pools are wonderful and warm and open to adults 24 hours a day. The Sunday buffet was good, and the food our group was served was very good. The staff was always helpful and gracious. I would have liked a coffee maker in the room especially since coffee wasn't complementary in the lobby/restaurant, but the room had a refrigerator. If I were staying there on my own I would chose a second floor pool view room in order to have a view, but still have privacy. There is really nothing in Desert Hot Springs, but if you like pools and spas this is a good choice.
