Three strikes! You're out!!! A review of Inn at Pasatiempo
Even though our stay last summer included the resident spider and a loud party next door ("local rate" they offer no doubt encourages use by locals for a cheap party venue) we opted to try it again this winter. This time we encountered a stuck bathroom door which almost trapped my wife for the nite. After the cheerful nite manager moved us, the new bathroom had a shower head which leaked/sprayed water directly on the electric hair drier mounted closeby. This was fixed by the cheerful maintenance man. We stole the remote from the first room to make up for the fact that the new room lacked one. Admittedly, we arrived somewhat late, but according to the schedule, the restaurant was still serving. I had to get a little firm with the bar manager to get her to find a waitress. After shuffling rooms (both ours and that of a friend who was to have an adjoining accommodation) we had an OK week's stay (except for the all night party Saturday) and I slept fairly well despite the mattress which had a very pronounced sag.
All of the above would not have been enough to make me write this review. It was the checkout experience the morning of 3/10/05 which left me in shock. Our friend and I were each paying for our own rooms so we went together to check out. I was explaining which rooms we had because there had been so much room switching on check-in. The room clerk literally jumped down my throat, told me that she was not some stupid retard, and in general took a very bad attitude. She mocked the hand gestures I had made and behaved in a very aggressive fashon. It made me very angry and I told her why I felt it was necessary to explain the room situation to her. She threatened to have me removed from the property by the police and I just left the room keys and went. Our friend, who was a witness to all of this was in shock. She couldn't understand the woman's attitude and told her that she had better improve her people skills or she would risk loosing more business than just ours. I've been put in my place before, and can tell when I deserve it. This time I didn't. We will not be back.
