Three stars. Good place if you don't overpay. A review of Hilton Arlington

Okay, just got back from the Hilton, Arlington. Spent Saturday and Sunday night 7/17 and 7/18 2004. Here's the deal. This is a simple, pleasant, no frills hotel. Lots of familes and kids. Three stars is exactly what it deserves. I didn't book on priceline cause I've seen the other local hotels which are much worse and i didn't want to take a chance, so unlike some of the other people on here, I paid $109. I don't feel totally ripped, but if you don't have to be in Arlington, the HILTON hotels in Dallas proper are much nicer...and strangely enough cost less...even on Hilton's own website!

The restaurant downstairs is nothing to talk about. Skip it. The bar is alright...though the bartenders and staff in general were extremely friendly.

Couple of notes. The pillows aren't great...and are a cut lower than I've had at other Hilton hotels.

And Friday night there was no hot water at Midnight...a small oversight apparently cause they slipped a note under the door saturday night to tell us they were turning off the water at Midnight...for construction reasons.

They have a bounceback weekend special which includes full breakfast for two for only ten dollars more...I booked this on line thinking that that was a room service situation like most other hotels have when they have their weekend getaways. Instead, it's just a coupon for the buffet breakfast at the restaurant downstairs which is really not much more than eggs and cereal. Skip it.

Also they are going through construction right now through mid August which they do not reveal until you are there. I was there on the weekend so really can't say if the noise level is a problem on the weekdays when the construction crews work.

For $50-$60 a night the place is a steal. For $110...you're better off at a Dallas Hilton or spending a couple of bucks more and staying at a top of the line place in the city. The crescent hotel is beautiful. And across the street is Hotel za za... a very cool and funky L.A style place where the Dallas hipsters hang out by the pool on the weekend night. I'd probably stay there next time. It's a mini skybar in dallas. Fun place to go.
