This place is nice... A review of Hilton Houston Post Oak
My wife and I stayed at this Hilton for one night in mid-May of 2005, having gotten the room for $40 through Priceline. What a bargain that turned out to be!!
The location of the hotel is extremely convenient, as there is nearby access to the west loop (I-610) that gets you throughout Houston relatively quickly. Of course, this area is also the most highly trafficked in the entire city, and much of it is under construction, so you need to be strategic about when you drive through the area. Nonetheless, the location was ideal for us.
The lobby is spectacular, even though it's a bit more modern than my tastes might prefer. The spaciousness and openness of the entire lobby area are reflective of the quality of the hotel. I had been booked in a room with two double beds. When I asked to be switched to a king room, the man at the front desk was friendly and helpful, without any condescension toward my cheap Priceline reservation.
The room was great. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, with a separate room for the toilet and shower (which I always appreciate). There was a tiny balcony that looked out over the Galleria area. It's not a functional balcony to sit or spend any time there, but it's nice to be able to walk outside and look around the city.
My only disappointment was the expensive parking.
We only stayed here one night, so we didn't get a very clear sense of all of the perks and quirks of the hotel. In our short time there, though, we were extremely impressed. Given the opportunity, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!
