This place is awful A review of Sturbridge Host Hotel & Conference Center
Our experience at this hotel could not have been worse. Although we were promised a room with two double beds, our room had one bed and one extremely uncomfortable pull-out couch for our family of four to share. The room reeked of mildew and the carpet felt damp to our feet. The air conditioner was unbearably loud. Yet, that had its benefits, because it blocked the noise of the guests around us who partied til dawn, which the hotel staff neglected to address for two nights. Staff also did not honor the reservations of others in our family reunion party, because they didn't have the backbone to speak up to other guests who refused to leave when told the hotel did not have a vacancy and they couldn't stay another night. Thus, our family reunion, booked for months in advance, ended up being split at different hotels. It took the Italian restaurant over an hour to tell me that it couldn't give me the dish I had ordered, pasta with pesto, because it was out of pesto. This was after telling me repeatedly that my dish was being plated. All in all, it seemed as if the hotel was overwhelmed and unable to cope with the guests that it had. Some of them were very unruly and made the rest of us uncomfortable. At check-out, when I told the woman behind the desk how disappointed we were with our weekend, she told us that they were a large convention center and we should have asked in advance what other groups were coming in so that we would know if it was a good weekend to attend. So this all was my fault? Let me just say in conclusion that I have stayed at hotels all over the world, some fancy and some very basic, and this was one of the worst I have experienced. I am not overly fussy, and this is the first review I have ever written.
