This place is a dump A review of Cambridge Gateway Inn
First of all, the place is difficult to find if you're not driving since it is on the turnpike (I happened to take the subway). The person at the desk was an elderly woman who was rude and smoked the entire time (making the office reek with smoke). The only restaurant is at a bowling alley next door. They charge you for the daily newspaper (when they haven't run out). The batteries in the remote control for the television were dead (not to mention the poor reception and lack of channels--HBO, CNN and local channels only). The walls are very thin, so you easily hear your neighbors. Don't forget your own shampoo because you won't find any in the rooms. Finally, the rooms look old--the toilet looked like it was made in the 1950s. I should also point out that the hotel is in a very industrial area; nothing is really within walking distance.
On the good side, the room was clean. The continental breakfast wasn't bad (danishes, muffins, fruit, cranberry and orange juices, coffee). They also have a shuttle service to the local subway station which supposedly operates every 30 min (I didn't actually use the shuttle). And I only had to stay one night.
Though I paid "only" $79.99+tax, it wasn't worth it. For the same price you can get a much better room at a reputable chain or pay a little more and get a room at a nicer place.
