This B&B has set the bar! A review of Kingsley House Bed and Breakfast Inn
This was my first B&B experience and I have to admit if this is how all B&B are, then Dave Drees has set the bar way high! I was given the task of planning our 1 year anniversary so with 2 weeks and 2 days to go I decide to surf for places to stay in Saugatuck, MI (art coast of Michigan). Of course most of the decent places to stay were booked until I stumbled on The Kingsley. They had one room left, The Golden Delicious. The inn was in Fennville, about 8 miles from downtown Saugatuck, but it was close to the Fenn Valley winery, however, I was running out of options so I booked the room ($125/night) and the Romance Package ($189). It consisted of 2 1-hour, in-house, massages, a bottle of wine from Fenn Valley, 2 tickets to the Star of Saugatuck (paddle-boat ride along the Kalamazoo and Lake Michigan), and fresh flowers in the room upon arrival.
What makes this B&B distinct are the great lengths Dave goes to pamper his guests. For starters there is a coffee service available 24 hours/day and complimentary bottled water and sodas. The all you can eat buffet breakfasts are homemade which range from peacan topped french toast and spinach quiche. There is a cookie jar filled every day and in the afternoon he offered brownies with passion tea.
In the evenings he has an outdoor movie screen and we watched the Bourne Identity with fellow guests. The only downside was the missing Center Channel for the dialogue, but it was remedied with subtitles.
This was my first B&B so I did not have a frame of reference, but my wife had been to one before and said this was much better than her other experience.
Two Thumbs up..way up!
