Think Twice A review of Colonnade Hotel

The Colonnade Hotel in Boston was a terrible disappointment. Good sized, nicely appointed rooms, excellent location close to great shopping, dining and transport, but completely and utterly soul-less. It also is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms fronting busy Huntington Avenue are not sufficiently sound-proofed. Housekeeping staff were unbelievably inconsiderate despite our having the Privacy Please sign on our door – lots of chatting between rooms, laughing and banging of trolleys. While it is unusual to have an impact drill tearing away at concrete in your hotel, we also had that to contend with and it got to the point where we went for a walk for a few hours, just to get away from the noise INSIDE our hotel room! I brought it to the attention of the Front Desk, they promised to bring it up with the Duty Manager, and despite my leaving a second message directly with his office, he didn’t bother to get back to me. Food and beverage prices are also disproportionately high compared to the quality of the property.

In summary, the better than usual promotional rates simply aren’t worth it. For very little more, stay at the higher quality Marriott Copley Place. It is just as well located (one minute’s walk up from The Colonnade) and a far better hotel in every respect.
