Thin walls, bring earplugs... A review of Sonesta Bayfront Hotel Coconut Grove
On the surface this hotel is quite nice. But the view isn't really worth the price. We were on the 20th floor with a perfect view of CocoWalk and Coconut Grove, however this also meant waking up at the crack of dawn by jack hammers and other construction sounds from the surrounding buildings. We could have also sworn that we could hear water running from every pipe in the hotel. You can save some money on nightlife though since you can hear the bands playing at Cocowalk from your room. Loud and clear if you open the window.
Some good points:
1. Location: They had valet parking ($18/day) but you could walk from there to everything at Coconut Grove.
2. Appearance: The hotel was very clean and even had a self-paced walking art tour to show off some of the work in their lobby.
3. The staff: Everyone we encountered was very nice and willing to help.
We did not eat at the restaurant so no comment there. We did use the spa at the Biscayne Sonesta. The services were about average with a little bit of a price premium, but the facility was very nice. You can take a shuttle there from Coconut Grove and stay there all day without having to lug your suitcase. The spa provides towel, robes, hair dryer, brushes, toiletries, etc. Then afterward you can hang out on the beach or by the pool
