They double book arrive early A review of Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark

The hotel is situated in a quiet but fun area close to eating places and bars. The standard of accommodation is very average and breakfast is on the mean side. However, despite having some advantages the service is less than adequate. I booked the hotel via the Internet and received a written confirmation direct from the hotel. However, when I arrived I was told that I had cancelled several days earlier by phone and that the hotel was full. The lady in reception (a mother and her 2 daughters seem to run the hotel and it was the daughter with the long dark grey hair who attended to me), proceeded to discuss my situation with a colleague in front of me for a few minutes, completely ignoring me. Eventually I asked them to let me know what was going on and they told me that they could not prove I had cancelled but that they would cancel the person after me and give me his room. They were going to tell him that an error had been made. This 'honesty' about their solution and the total absence of an apology astounded me. Goodness knows what they said to the man whose room I was given. The room was not the room I had requested of course, it was so dark that you needed the lights on in full daylight and there was no soap. I also slept badly due to the noise inside the hotel.
