They don't really want you here A review of Doubletree by Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay

If you're a frequent visitor with the Hilton hotels and are expecting a nice welcome or the published benefits of HHonors Gold or Diamond membership levels (upgrades, welcome gift, executive floor, breakfast) then you should stay away from this dump.

Many of the rooms were recently remodeled so they're OK, although a little small. The hotel management seems to care less if you're there to bring them business and can be described as somewhat untrained and "cold" at best. They flatly refused to offer the published HHonors benefits of Gold level saying, "we don't do that here" and that I was welcome to pay for breakfast on my own using my credit card even though it was a published benefit. The front desk person had no idea and said he did me a favor by calling the manager on duty at home to confirm because he didn't know. They did say that the hotel manager would contact me to confirm that this is the policy at this hotel, but I never heard anything from them. The front desk said that I should contact the manager again if he didn't get in touch with me (apparently this happens often?).

Rooms can be quite far from the elevator and being a condo/hotel it seems that the hotel portion is definitely an afterthought.
