The jury is still out... A review of Hotel ZaZa Dallas
We were excited about the prospect of eating at Dragonfly (the hotel restaurant) and then staying the night for a romantic getaway. The decor is edgy, stylish and great fun, and the room we stayed in was large, sumptuous and full of delightful, thoughtful touches. This was everything we could have wished for. The service in the restaurant was awkward and contrived. The morning breakfast (served in the room) was not at all what we had ordered. When it came time to pay the bill, it was wrong - and we had been charged for two things we had not ordered.
The correction was clumsy and difficult, and was still not correct when we left the hotel. We later realized that the dinner (which was originally on the bill) had been deleted - so we called back to offer to pay and correct their mistake. They did recharge us. It occurred to us that none of the staff had been trained properly, and that Zaza could get away with it because of its current celebrity status. This, too shall pass? We may stay again to confirm or allay or worst suspicions.
