The concierge taught me russian! A review of Hotel National, A Luxury Collection Hotel
An excellent hotel in an excellent location right opposite the Kremlin and just a short stroll away from the Bolshoi. Also, right near the metro, which is an experience well worth delving into. Ignore the Russia is dangerous, don't get the metro and if you do don't speak english rubbish. The metro stations are a work of art and the people are the kindest possible. They may look sturn but they don't act it. The rooms in the hotel are great, nice bathrooms, good water pressure in the shower and the breakfast is fantastic as you look right out at the Kremlin. No bubble wrap on my windows. And the best thing EVER.. the concierge sat with me for 20 minutes and helped me write a speach to be delivered in Russian for my friends 30th Birthday dinner at Cafe Pushkin. She made me repeat it until I pronunced everything right and then said ' the Russians will understand you now'. Now what hotel concierge does that!
