The best B&B in New England! A review of Applebutter Inn
My husband and I stayed at the Applebutter Inn for four wonderful nights. The location is ideal--seven miles off Interstate 89 (so no noise) and a few miles outside of bustling Woodstock. The Inn is beautifully appointed but not stuffy, and the rooms are in pristine condition--but never overly cute or cloying. Our hosts, Barbara and Michael, were knowledgeable, helpful, and fun to talk to without being intrusive. They directed us to all the best restaurants for dinner; they gave us guidance on sightseeing; and they even helped me keep up on my marathon training and cycling by pointing me to local trails and roads where I could enjoy the view while getting in the miles. (If you're a runner, you're in luck, as the Inn is located less than half a mile from a lightly travelled but well-maintained dirt road along the river.) The breakfasts prepared by Barbara and served by Michael are truly divine and delicious--a special treat each morning using local produce and always accompanied by Barbara's homemade applebutter. Each afternoon, Barbara serves special sweets--mini blueberry cheesecakes, coconut chocolate cookies-- with freshly brewed ice tea that we made sure not to miss. Of all the B&Bs we've stayed in, the Applebutter Inn was the best on all dimensions. We will go back again and again.
