Terrific! A review of Belmont Hotel
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to stay at a vintage motor court, you MUST give The Belmont a whirl! Set atop a massive hill overlooking downtown Dallas, this late-1940's streamlined art deco hotel is a delightful mix of vintage, retro, Texana and modern. Rooms are large and nicely furnished with modern flair. Our bathroom contained the original whimsical pink tile from the late 40's and was stocked with Kiehl's products--in bottles much larger than travel-size! Rooms are either located in the main building (an art deco treat) or in somewhat linear bungalows, each with a different-colored front door and in some cases, adjacent to screened "porches" (cleverly-converted parking carports from The Belmont's early days). Lush desert grasses, foliage and flowers lend to the southwest feel of the landscaping and the beautiful pool evokes minimalist sculpture at it's best. The cocktail bar inside the main building is comfortable and bustling--a mix of tourists and locals, and houses a complimentary continental breakfast in the a.m. as well. Our stay was truly a pleasure and we plan to return for another Texas-size helping of fresh decor, great service and retro chic very soon!
