Terrible treatment A review of Bellagio Hotel Prague
My girlfriend and I have just returned from 4 nights in Praha. It was supposed to have been the main part of a holiday around Europe. We have been terribly treated by this particular hotel. We booked and paid for our accommodation in Hotel Bellagio before we left Ireland and received a letter(which we still have) confirming this. We were told to hand this letter to the hotel upon our arrival. My girlfriend was delighted and loved the hotel, whose pictures I showed her online.
However, when we arrived from Budapest Hotel Bellagio claimed that they had "overbooked" our room and we therefore had no place. In an age of computer bookings, this "overbooked" claim was a lie. This was on Good Friday. They offered us a room in another hotel further out of the city: that was our "choice". I was fuming. At the last minute on one of the busiest times of the year they break our hotel confirmation and give us the "choice" of another hotel.
I suspect what happened is the following. I booked on a special offer of 4 nights for the price of 3 nights. They *accepted* this booking but when they found other customers willing to pay for all of the same 4 nights, they unilaterally cancelled my confirmation, and made an extra €200+ profit for that 4th night.
I would not recommend this hotel to anybody, and some Czech tourist authority should be ensuring that such practices are not allowed.
