Surprisingly family-friendly A review of Hotel Monaco Portland - A Kimpton Hotel
We stayed here over Thanksgiving and loved it. Very relaxing place for adults, but also suprisingly family-friendly. The rooms are real suites, with heavy, curtained sliding doors to separate the living area from the sleeping area, so that our toddler could nap and go to bed early and the adults could stay up without whispering. The bathroom is good-sized and stocked with Aveda products that come from the adjacent spa - tip: book a spa service well in advance of your stay, as even the great hotel staff cannot get you a massage with only a few days warning. The lobby is beautiful, with lots of big leather seating. It was my daughter's daily destination - they have Candy Land in one of the bureaus. There is also tasty coffee and tea all morning and wine in the evening. Staff was very friendly, very efficient. Guests were very pleasant, too - the lobby puts everyone in a social mood. Great location for walking around Portland. What a find - and what a great price you can get on the web.
