Suite life with children A review of Stonewall Resort
Trip date June 27-30, 2004. We were thrilled with our summer visit back to our roots in central West Virginia - what a lovely resort tucked over the hills from I-79. Stonewall Resort has rustic charm with all the modern conveniences. We booked a room with 2 queen beds adjoining one of the 6 parlor/suites. Every room overlooks the beautiful Stonewall Jackson Lake and most times of the day you could easily spot deer and fawn enjoying the scenery too. The parlor/suite was very spacious w/kitchenette and huge bath w/jacuzzi tub and separate shower, pull out sofa bed as well. The queen bedded room had a lovely spacious bath equipped w/2 sinks. The indoor/outdoor pool w/2 hot tubs is great and well maintained - the well furnished fitness room sets along side the pool with lovely locker room facilities. My children enjoyed the playground every day. We were fortunate to have our stay coincide with the arrival of the resorts cruise boat, the Little Sorrel. We enjoyed a 2 hour sightseeing cruise one afternoon to the dam on the lake. This cruise is an experience not to miss - they outfitted the children with their own life vests. The menu in Stillwaters is full of variety and staff very helpful. The fire pit glowed every evening and seemed to be a nice spot to recap your day spent in this beautiful section of West Virginia. The golf course was simply breathtaking and there were also all sorts of recreation available on the lake, kayaking to fishing to jet skis. We highly recommend this little jewel in the hills!
