Stay here - you'll thank yourself A review of Mainsail Tampa Extended Stay
We picked this hotel for our four-day Tampa stay based on the reviews on tripadvisor, and we thank the previous reviewers. Before we came, we were concerned that Expedia had given this place 2 stars, and we were worried that the previous reviewers were describing something too good to be true. After staying, we will not trust Expedia star ratings, especially after driving by some of the places they had given 3 and 4 stars. And, we proudly tell let everyone that the previous reviewers who gave this place 5 stars on this site sure knew what they were talking about.
As for our experience, we booked a 2 BR suite through Expedia, but when we arrived they had us in a 1 BR suite. They showed me the reservation from Expedia that said 1 BR, even though my confirmation said 2 BR. Despite the fact that Expedia screwed up, Mainsail upgraded our reservation to a 2 BR without charge and without me having to argue with anyone, call Expedia, or anything else. This took all of about 3 minutes. I appreciate that the front desk caught this before I did, and the problem was fixed before we were even sent to our room. When we arrived, we found our room to be clean and spacious. Having the table set with plates, glasses, and silverware was a nice touch. Let me just say that having 2 bedrooms for 4 adults is sure nicer than having all 4 adults crammed into one hotel room - with this there is really no comparison, even though the prices were comparable. With that thought, we had wondered if Mainsail was too good to be true, but upon arriving, it was all we expected and more. We also feel very safe here - there is a fence around the entire complex, gates that require your room key to open on the road, a patrol apparently by a "real" sheriff, and emergency phones all over. But the area around the hotel looks to be decent, so the security is, in our opinion, above and beyond what is actually needed.
One bit of advice is that the although it's a "full kitchen" the cooking utensils are quite limited - we had to share the one pot that most resembled a frying pan between making eggs and potatoes for breakfast - so if you're planning to cook a gourmet mail in the in-unit kitchen, you'd better bring your own pots and pans.
To sum it all up, we recommend this place and we will stay here again should we ever travel to the Tampa area. Thank you tripadvisor.com and previous reviewers for helping us to make the right choice.
