Stay Elsewhere A review of Mondrian Los Angeles
This is not a luxury hotel. Indeed, this is probably the worst hotel I have ever stated at. If you are merely looking for an "in" hotel, the Mondrian does not draw an A list crowd, B-list crowd, or any crowd at all.
The rooms are cheaply decorated (three steps below IKEA) and in a state of disrepair (broken window blinds, stained carpet, as well as a television and telephone that did not work and that nobody could fix).
The service was truly awful. While it was obvious that most of the staff had never worked in a hotel, it seems to me that most of them had probably never stayed in a hotel either.
At checkout, I was charged for valet parking for multiple cars, even though I only had one car, and for several unusual mini-bar charges that the hotel could not itemize yet refused to remove from my bill.
After I left, the hotel proceeded to charge my credit card for the high speed modem, which I returned when I checked out. (I had to initiate a credit card dispute regarding these matters.)
I strongly recommend against staying at the Mondrian.
