I had my doubts about the hotel, after reading the more negative reviews, but the rate I booked on-line was attractive so we spent a long weekend here. I'm not a picky traveler, but I was pretty disappointed. First, they tried to charge a rate $42/night higher than when I made the reservation (fortunately, I had a print-out of my confirmation with me). Then, after lugging all of our stuff to the room, we discovered it hadn't yet been cleaned AND had two beds instead of the king bed we'd specified. The front desk staff was apologetic and switched us to a king room, and did grant my request for something facing away from the noisy street. On the plus side, the room was fairly large, and our balcony was huge. However, the decor leaves much to be desired, there's an unpleasant smell throughout the hotel, and it's laid out very strangely (must have been a novice architect's first project). Also, the pool and its surrounding area are tiny. Can't comment on the complimentary snacks or breakfast, since we ate out (but we can heartily recommend the Danish pancakes at Paula's, just down the street)! Next time we're going back to the Royal Scandinavian, where we thoroughly enjoyed our stay a couple of years ago.
