Stay away at all cost! A review of Hyatt Regency Cincinnati
I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel in early February 2004. First, let me comment on the fact that there is much truth in previous "constructive" postings and that there are many sad things to say rather than good about this hotel. A good number of the staff were friendly when you actually spent time face-to-face with them, but it is clear that in general there is no emphasis on "in-passing hospitality", something that exists due to effective and competent upper management policies. Both the breakfast and dinner restaurants appeared to be very dirty and disorganized, the overpriced breakfast buffet was not fresh. I even noticed what I believe was a roach galloping through the flower beds in the breakfast restaurant - unfortunately it must have been very healthy as I was unable to confirm what it was. As one previous commenter said, the rooms were old and very tired and a number of things just didn't work. Also, there was no consistency in hours of opening for the restaurants for lunch, and for whatever reason it was brilliantly decided that a musty, stinky, greasy sports bar, of all themes, was the best theme for "everyone" out there. A very closed-minded approach, maybe good for the meathead crowd on Bengal game days?? Definitely one of the worst Hyatts out there. I know Cincinnati is not a premium destination, but the problems and shortcomings I encountered were related to the general leadership and management of the hotel. The Hyatt name will not cover up these failures.
