Stay at the Ritz Pentagon City instead!!! A review of The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner
We wanted to try and stay at a different Ritz than we normally stay in while in DC. We were traveling with 2 children, 8 and 6. This IS NOT a hotel for children. I felt as if my children were the biggest inconvience to the staff at best. They are not unruly or rude, but clearly the hotel does not normally have children as it's guests.
There were no "good points", but I will share some of the more dismal points.
1) Their deluxe room was TINY - it was a struggle to get the roll away bed in there. Smelled funny, and looked like it had seen better days!! This was not a $300+ room. I have stayed in nicer Marriots. We upgraded the second night to an executlve suite, which was much better suited for a traveling family - but it cost upwards of $500.
2)Room service was a joke, food cold, not cooked, took forever to arrive, was extremely expensive, I could go on and on. However, there is no place within walking distance to get a bite to eat. So, unless you want to have the hotel shuttle take you to the nearest metro center - you were stuck with the hotel, or the restaurants in the mega-expensive Galleria Mall.
3)We liked the idea that this Ritz had an indoor pool, especially with the boys. However, the pool was only open to children from 7-9am and 7-9 pm. The rest of the time we were told that the children disturbed the spa rooms that were close by. So, we showed up at 7 am to swim only to find that there were people who were trying to swim laps, and my kids were told to "be quiet", "stop splashing". etc. Come on! Adults could swim at the non-children designated times.
4)We stayed on the Club floor and the staff was just plain RUDE!! They could not have been bothered to get the kids a glass of milk in the morning and the room was empty!
We then decided to head over to the Ritz in Pentagon City, where we have stayed before and what a difference!! Check out my review of the Pentagon City before you decide to stay here!!
