Something different. A review of Cedar House Inn & Yurts
We like staying in B & Bs and each one is different and all reflect the owners interests. Cedar House Inn does that and is a very special place because the owners are interested in providing accomodations that are comfortable, good value and ecologically sound.
This does not mean that you are having to go without all the niceties of B & Bs. Indeed, we had a lovely room, The Chickadee, with all the ameneties such as shower etc en suite, room to sit inside and out, breakfast served freshly cooked at the large kitchen table.
The ecological bit is that all the kitchen waste is composted and used for the garden where Fred and Mary Beth are growing the fruit used at breakfast. The shower uses less water but feels the same and does the same job because the water is oxegenated. The whole house is wood which looks, feels and smells nice. All Fred and Mary Beth ask of their guests is that they turn lights and fans off when not using rooms.
A word about the Yurts. Fred kindly took us to see these and if you look on their web site you will see that they are more popular than the rooms. If you want peace, quiet and some isolation these are for you. Honeymooners seem to enjoy them.
Finally a word about the hosts. Fred and Mary Beth like to spend time with their guests and will join you in the evening for a glass of local wine and great conversation. After a day looking around places that they have recommended (try Amicalola Falls) it is a pleasant way to end your day.
