Some expectations were not met A review of Radisson Blu Park Lane Hotel, Antwerp
We got an internet deal on this hotel for 2 nights, 2 complimentary glasses of wine but no breakfast for €131.00 approx. per night. On the plus side it is a very nice hotel with a marble decor. The staff were very pleasant and spoke very good english. The room was large and the beds were comfortable. We requested and received a room with a pretty park view. On the negative side despite having the air conditioning turned to maximum we were way too hot on the first night and on the second we left the window open which was much better, though we were woken early by the sound of cockerels from the neighbouring Stadstpark. When my husband went to use the pool he was told that our names were not on the list for using it and that it would cost him an extra €10.00 if he wanted to do so. I was quite surprised that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and when asked, Reception told me that these were only for business rooms but that I could obtain hot water from the bar, not really a lot of use without cups milk or instant coffee. The bathroom was very satisfactory although the towels while perfectly clean looked slightly old, again a little surprising in a 4 star hotel. On the first night we ate in the restuarant beside the bar. It cost €75.00 for one starter 2 glasses of wine 2 main courses one desert and two coffees. The food was adequate but bland. Shopping streets and restaurants approx 15 minute walk away.
