So close to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos A review of New London Plaza Hotel
Thanks for all other TripAdvisor reviews about this hotel that helped me decided to visit Mohegan Sun first before checking in the hotel and visit Pequot Museum that next to Foxwoods after check out the hotel. I have found this is great arrangement that after visiting the great Mohegan Sun Casino for a few hours and after dinner came back to a full rest at Radison hotel at New London.
Some more detail info that could help others who may stay at this great hotel yet visiting Mohegan Sun Casino. You take exit 79A on I-395 North to Mohegan Sun, remember the last buffet is 10pm at weekdays and 12 midnight at Friday and Saturday nights. It is very easy to get to the hotel taking CT-32-S instead of going back to I-395-S; it is faster and much shorter; 10 minutes is what it should take.
After checked out the hotel, leave the car at the hotel's FREE parking lot, and you can walk just one or two blocks down to Amtrack Union train station and the Long Island Ferry (you can take Ferry ride with your car to Long Island) and tour the downtown New London.
Taking the car down more, you can reach the river and ocean side; there is nice park and beach and boardwalk ...etc, very nice ocean view. I was surprised to find the Pfzer global research center there too.
When you go to Foxwoods Casino, or the wonderful Pequot Museum next to it, you can take I-95-N, and exit 88 to take Rt 117-N, the Rt-214-East; it is very smooth, and the river view is wonderful. At the exit 88 on Rt 117-N, you will hit Groton Marriott, very nice hotel to check out too.
It is such great location of this Radison hotel at New London, right off exit 83 of I-95-N, but wonderful price. I paid close to $200 to stay at Mohegan Sun several times, and close to that at Foxwoods, and some $169 at Mystic Hilton, but I got $40 from Amazing-Bargains this time at this wonderful hotel; I felt it well worth, after visit Mohegan Sun first, and able to visit beach after going back to Pequot Museum having great lunch there.
Other than the great location of Radison Hotel, the staff there are great, very polite and nice as other reviews have mentioned. The hotel is relatively new and clean and the room is as great as I need.
There is no high speed Internet, but after all sorts of activities at Mohegan Sun, Kids Quest, shopping, dinner ...etc, all we needed was a nice sleep after checked in at midnight.
Another drawback is that the check out time is 1 hour earlier than general hotel, but 11am check out time seemed to gave us one more hour to visit beach. This is same check out time as Mystic Hilton, but I was nicely given extension if I need, the front desk told me when I checked in.
There are 3 nice on premise restaurants, all looks great with many ballrooms and nice swimming pool, but we did not get a chance to use them because as I said there are just too many nice places to visit nearby before heading Providence RI on the way to Boston Hyatt ...
This is great hotel that I will sure wish to come back again and again, and I would sure to recommend whoever want to visit all the nice places nearby from Mohegan Sun Casino to Foxwoods Casino, from Pequot Museum (we are member) to USS Battleship and Submarien (free) to Mystic Aquarium, DNA Museum at New London (we are member), to Mystic Seaport ...etc on the way to Providence RI and Boston area.
