SNOW , LIES AND NO ROOM SERVICE, Fawlty Towers on ice! A review of Tivoli Lodge
We paid over $5,000 to stay at Tivoli Lodge for one week based on the reviews in this website.After our stay I have grave doubts regarding the authorship of same. The first alarm bells should have rung when the full amount was deducted from our credit card a month before we arrived. On arrival we brought in all our own bags to the reception where a disinterested young man took several phone calls and ate part of his lunch before asking what we wanted.Simultaneously another staff member cursed and swore loudly while wiping the floor. The receptionist also told a ringing phone to "just stop ringing!!" (this is not a joke). We asked for a coffee and were pointed to a flask and some plastic cups in the foyer!!The bar was never open and there was no atmosphere whatsoever and all that was missing was some tumbleweed. The room was pleasant and well appointed as was the entire hotel, which makes the disappointing product provided so easily rectifiable.Turn down consisted of making the bed and that's it! Other than a very sparse breakfast there is no food or tea/coffee available at this hotel. When at 8pm we asked at reception was there any food at all, even a sandwich,the guy asked if we were really hungry and when we said yes he said that the main street in Vail was only a short walk away!Any request, even for a phone charger, was met with a solid "no can do" attitude. The location and build quality of this hotel are great and it is a crying shame that the service is so badly delivered and that basic amenities are not provided. It was like the beverly hillbillies had been handed the Ritz Hotel and asked to run it with no training. Brutally Disappointing.
