Smoke in "Smoke Free" Hotel A review of Rodeway Inn Anchorage

I have to agree withe the review titled "Stinky", almost exactly like my experience at the Voyager. The "smoke free" room smelled of smoke, as did the pillows and linens. I too complained but the front desk clerk just shrugged, and offered no solution. I believe the smoke comes into the rooms from the first floor Corsair restaurant(through air ventilation system). The room was spacious but the rug at entry was very soiled and the entire decor is drab brown and beige and needs freshening and updating. Still the kitchenette was very nice, and handy in a city with high prices for so-so meals. The rooms open onto a parking lot or noisy street--but a good downtown location for walking. I think this used to be a top hotel, but the owner has let maintenance slide. And if you are sensitive to smoke, choose a legitimate smoke-free hotel.
