Small hotel, great room, good location A review of BEST WESTERN PLUS Independence Park Hotel

Stayed here earlier this week. Quite small hotel but high ceiling well appointed rooms. Great location but parking is down the street and around the corner in a public lot (OK so I'm spoiled from Kansas). We stayed in probably one of the better rooms, facing the street, as most of them just open onto the side of the next building.

We were accidentally there for their touted weekly wine and cheese manager's evening reception but it was brief and "service" was terrible. They quickly ran out of plates, glasses, silverware and crackers and no one seemed in charge of this. and if you didn't want wine there was nothing else to drink.

Great breakfast that is complimentary. I was a little disappointed with one of the front desk people, might have been her first day. who wasn't helpful in terms of helping me get cash ("we don't cash checks.... what bank do you use?.... nope, we don't have that one here in Philly..... US Bank, must be a local one!") I thought she could have been more helpful and I think should have cashed a check. Don't hotels do this anymore?
