Simply superb A review of Harraseeket Inn

Is it possible for an inn to be "simple" (that is, informal and friendly) yet "superb" (that is, presenting the highest standards of service, accomodation and quality of food) at the same time? At Freeport's Harraseeket Inn, the answer is yes. We have been coming to the Harraseeket for a number of years. This one our innkeeper, in passing, noticed in the parking lot that that our car had a flat tire, managed to get it filled so that the car could be driven, advised us on where a permanent repair should be performed, drove us to the shop and back, and then insisted (insisted!) on driving us back an hour later to collect it. Some people would say that this alone would merit a 5 star rating. However, we then went on the same night to have a meal at the Inn's Maine Dining Room that emphasized the freshest ingrediants from local farms. We'd compare the overall experience to the very best from our North American and European travel. We love this place. In a more selfish world we'd keep a gem like this to ourselves ...
