Simply horrible! A review of Abbey Resort & Spa
From the moment we walked in the place to the moment we checked out, it was Incompetence Central. The daytime manager was nice as were the gift shop staff and the Women's Spa staff (esp. Corrine the masseuse).
However, the female receptionists at both the front desk and the spa were snotty and just plain mean. We drove through a blinding snowstorm to get there on a Friday night and when we checked in we were chided for arriving late when we asked a question about the spa. Some hospitality! The next day at the Spa when I checked in they told me that had "no time at all" for a manicure or pedicure, but the woman next to me was able to make a 30 minute polish change appointment .
Hello -- you either have time open on the schedule or you don't. Our toilet was broken (at least that got fixed quickly and competently), we were given a differnet rate over the phone than when we checked in, our friends who came on Saturday ended up moving rooms three times becuase of a stay-over in the adjoining room (stay-over not the Abbey's fault, but multiple moves were), our bill was wrong AND slipped under the wrong door, etc., etc., etc. This place is cheaper than the other places in Lake Geneva and it shows. Complaints to the management resulted in a mystery 3 AM wake-up call our second night there.
Needless to say, it was not relaxing at all, and we will NEVER return.
