Simply a great place to stay ! A review of Hotel Seifert

I chose the recently-refurbished Hotel Seifert as part of a flight+hotel deal with Easyjet. Payment was online so there was no money to pay at the hotel. I was exceptionally impressed by the state of the hotel, and it was a pleasure to stay in. I would definitely go back again.

I arrived at the hotel mid-afternoon using one of Prague's excellent and cheap trams: the nearest stop is Lipanska and you can catch the number 9. I found that none of the locals knew the hotel, so you'd be best off using a map.

I was promptly and courteously booked in by the multi-lingual receptionist: my Czech is poor but this was no problem. I was given a free local map and they told me about the free internet access PC in the lobby. Reception also sold travel passes (a must for serious tourists), snacks, wine and all the usual items that are sold in Western hotels. They insist that your key is left at reception and in return you're issued with a card with your name and room details. You'll be pleased to know that reception is manned 24/7 (really!) so if you take full advantage of Prague's nightlife it won't be a problem getting back in the small hours :-)

The rooms are on several floors and reached either by stairs or modern lift. My room was warm all the time (good in an Eastern European winter) and very quiet due to the double-glazing. Rooms have TV, phone and tea/coffee making facilities. The TV has local and satellite channels including CNN and Sky news. The bathroom has a shower (no bath) and towels, shampoo and soap are supplied. Definitely no complaints there.

Breakfast is a self-serve buffet and on-hand kitchen staff will cook eggs as required. It's traditional Czech/Eastern-European cuisine, with sausage, bread, cheese, cold meats, fruit, cereal, fruit juice, coffee. All beautifully prepared and very tasty.

Why not an "excellent" rating? It's purely down to location-Zizkov is somewhat run-down, but if that doesn't bother you then I'd recommend the Hotel Seifert.
