Shuffle off to Buffalo A review of Hyatt Regency Rochester
The Hyatt Regency Rochester claims to be the finest hotel in Rochester. If so, this is a sad statement about the city. My wife and I stayed there for one night on the way to Toronto, Canada in August 2004. Our room was absolutely filthy with stains on the sheets, a dirty coffemaker, hairballs on the floor, and a tub that wouldn't drain because it was so grotesquely clogged with hair. I am happy to say that an effort was made to please as the manager gave us a free bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, fresh fruit, in addition to comping us the room. This hotel, as with two other Hyatts where I have stayed, appears weathered and in need of an exterior facelift. Furthermore, the rooms are expensive at this hotel with the surrounding area being delapidated and somewhat depressing. While claiming to be a four star, I would have to say that the overqall quality of the hotel is not up to par with its rating. If given the opportunity of staying at the Hyatt in Rochester a second time, we would both decline and travel to Buffalo or Niagara Falls.
