Short Stay A review of Conrad Miami
I stayed at the Conrad Miami for one night on Sat 24 July. I was attracted to the inductory rate of $100 per night for a room overlooking the city ie. west. On arrival I asked to change to a bay view room with a tariff of $125 but I was little disappointed as my new room was on the south side looking at office tower with a limited view of the bay - but a very good view of the pool at the Four Seasons.
On the positive side the hotel occupies floors 16 - 25 of a brand new building on Brickell Avenue. The room was small but very comfortable - and I thought the bathroom was very good. I found the service very good - check-in and check-out was efficient, but it wasn't particularly busy. The sky lobby and Noir Bar on the 25th floor have great views - except for the apartment block directly in front.
The major point of disappointment was the location - which the hotel can do nothing about. There is nothing close by for a tourist. I didn't have a car so I used taxis and the free Metromover which has a station adjacent to the hotel. But I would recommend that visitors be extra vigilant on the Metromover at night - and maybe lone women not use it at all. But of course if I did have a car I would have had to pay $24/day for parking which is more expensive than South Beach hotels where I can better understand the premium. Those that do choose to park in the station need to consider is that the parking station is not owned by the hotel and is used during the week by office workers.
I used the pool a couple times. It is small and there is very (very) limited pool side service - so if you want something to eat or drink take it with you. There is phone to call the hotel and there may have been access to food services but I didn't test it. It wasn't busy so it is very quiet. However, if you have a view of the Four Seasons pool area you will be disappointed with the Conrad - but the trade off is the room rate.
Overall, a good business hotel, not really suited for tourists unless you have a car and are prepared to pay for parking.
