Shockingly bad hotel A review of Hotel Moscow (Moskva)
Myself and my fiance stayed in the Hotel Moskva in St Petersburg last year. We booked the Moskva because the room looked very plush on the website and the price was comparable to what we paid in other beautiful hotels such as the Sheraton Palace. The pictures and description of the rooms on the website didn't even vaguely resemble what we got when we arrived.
The hotel is basically set up for mass inflows and outflows of guests; the staff are unbelievably rude and the only time they expect to speak to you is when you register, if you bother them after that they will treat you like you're wasting their time. When you are leaving, you don't check out, you just throw your pass key into a pot at reception.
The food was disgusting and my fiance got food poisoning.
The air conditioning didn't work in our room so we had to open the windows of the room and we found it impossible to sleep with the noise as there were at least 6 lanes of traffic speeding past the front of the hotel all night (the road was very busy even in the middle of the night). We didn't get any sleep or eat any of the hotel's breakfasts for the duration of our stay (4 days). We wrote a letter of complaint to the hotel enclosing our unused breakfast vouchers (we had prepaid) and they didn't even bother to reply.
I would never stay here again.
