Shhhh...don't tell anybody A review of Ocean Beach Club
I'm actually hesitant to write about the place and let others know it exists -- I want it to not be "discovered" and overrun.
It's a small, quiet, clean hotel facing a nice little sliver of Atlantic beach (a rare and nice bonus in the Keys). We took a suite -- basically a 1BR apartment -- for four nights and fell in love with it. Hotel is older but kept extremely well and the interiors of the rooms are well-maintained and fairly modern. Kitchens in the suites are well-stocked with cooking supplies. Pool has a deep end -- a rarity these days -- and there's a Jacuzzi, too.
Tiki bar and restaurant right next door were great, although restaurant was perhaps a few dollars on the pricey side for dinner entrees (appetizers and lunches were fair, though). Nice dock right next to the property, too. Sea grass does wash onto the beach every day but is removed every morning. If you can't relax at this place, you can't relax!
Only knock I'd have, and it's a small one, is that the exterior could use to be updated a bit and the room doors really need to be replaced -- they're old, they don't seem terribly secure and they use old-style key locks. But the rooms themselves are nice!
Check out the hotel's web site -- it's a very accurate representation of the place. The area really is that pretty!
Really recommended if you want a quiet, get-away-from-it-all kind of place. We'll be back.
