Shacked up and I loved it! A review of Shack Up Inn
I'm a musician and totally loved being offered a complimentary acoustic guitar to thrash about whilst chilling on my shack's balcony...nice touch! As their website states, their shacks are real shacks and so they look and smell like real shacks. Ours wasn't offensively dirty or anything but if you're more partial to Choice Hotels' type places then brace yourself a little! It's a great experience though, Our shack had a TV but it only played one radio station (not sure what the deal was but didn't care, no TV for 2 nights wasn't a deal breaker for me). There was a very comfy king sized bed in our shack (Office Shack) along with an air con unit, a fridge & a microwave. Their on site bar is awesome with a performance area for guitar clubs etc. that use the place for learning (beers were VERY reasonably priced btw and a good selection too). They have just coffee and doughnuts for breakfast (complimentary but first-come-first-serve basis). If you like photography then you'll take plenty of pics of this fairly substantial & quaint premises and if you like cats then you'll love the several personable kitties that roam about the place. It's a 5-10min drive out of town, BUT, if you wanna go into town of an evening to have a drink and listen to some live blues, then Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club offers a handy limousine shuttle to and fro the club (fee was discretionary for us but the going tip is $5 per person each way, arrange with a member of staff at the hotel). There are a couple of taxis too but they're more expensive and probably less fun! If going back to Clarksdale I'd stay here again without question!
