Seedy and Smelly! A review of Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Marina del Rey

I was very disappointed at our stay at this hotel. We were on our honeymoon and thought the Courtyard would be fine for one night. The hotel is located right off a major intersection and there is a lot of road noise all night long. The linens were horrible! The pillows smelled like wet dog and the mattress was literally 3", it felt like a blanket. When I told the front desk of my concerns the next morning they told me they would "pass my concerns to the manager." Gee, thanks!

However, the staff the night before was very helpful giving us directions to Santa Monica. The lobby area is beautiful and the pool and pool area looked very nice.

The hotel has a Carl Jr.'s on site which unfortunately seemed to attract a seedy crowd and we were approached by a homeless man for change in the parking lot. This is not a hotel I would really feel comfortable walking around at night as a woman alone. There were several restaurants within walking distance, but you had to cross a major intersection and again, the area didn't seem safe to me at night.

If you are used to the urban California experience you should be totally fine here (except for the linen issue), we just thought it would be more suburban. If you are going to Marina del Rey, pay the extra money to stay on the Marina, that area looked a lot safer and a lot nicer.
