Run, don't walk-double double time A review of University Inn
I reserved what I thought was a room with 2 double beds for 2 nights in Boulder via my AAA internet site. We arrived late in the evening with two unexpected babies in tow--no problem, we were going to have 2 beds in the room. After check-in I discovered our room had 1 bed!!! I promptly went back to the office and stated my problem. I was informed that if I'd wanted 2 beds I should've reserved a "Double Double" room. I said that in all my years of reserving rooms via the internet I had never seen the term "Double Double". I was informed that it is "industry standard" to list rooms as "Double Double" if you want 2 beds. Well, you can bet I checked that out and found no major hotel chain that uses that term on their info. page. As their were no other rooms we were stuck with 2 adults, 1 teen ager and 2 babies under 2 with a double bed and a rollaway reluctantly scrounged up by the manager. The first thing that happened in the room was that my teen ager was unable to get out of the bathroom because the door lock got stuck. Then my grandson tripped over the upraised doorjam to the bathroom and hit his head on the tile floor. The heat was either blast furnace or freezer and all night long spring breakers were tromping around upstairs and outside. Breakfast was stale donuts provided in the lobby.The next morning we checked out--the manager begrudgingly let us, reminding us that the error was our fault-and checked in at the Golden Buffalo. A beautiful huge room and free full breakfasts at a wonderful restaurant next door. So, be aware, reserve "double double" or you'll get "double double" trouble!
