Ruined Anniversary Trip A review of Hilton Fort Worth
We decided to book our room at the Radisson Plaza for the weekend of our 4th anniversary and to visit a friend who we had not seen in almost two years. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were booked into a room quickly. However, our room was in the second tower, not the main tower. We walked across the street using the cross walk and then waited for the slow elevators to pick us up and take us to the 7th floor. Upon arriving at the 7th floor we had to walk in an almost complete square to get to our room. When we arrived at our room it was incredibly hot. We also noticed a slightly musty smell. Upon entering, we unpacked and noticed the carpet outside the bathroom was damp....Noticing the air conditioning vent above this area, we assumed the dampness was due to condensation. Therefore, we turned off the air conditioner and went to bed. The next morning, we woke up to find an even bigger puddle of water on the floor. We decided get ready and go down to the front desk to take care of the problem in person. When we each tried to take a shower the water temperature waivered from scalding hot to cold. The water pressure was also poor. We looked at the area where the bathroom sink was and there was sand all around the metal cabinent hanging on the wall. The wallpaper was also peeling.
After this ordeal, my husband and I decided that we wanted our room changed. We went downstairs and the hotel desk clerk was very accomodating to this need. However, when we tried to go back upstairs to retrieve our belongings to move rooms, we were locked out. We attemped to speak to the housekeeper to open the door, but she would not open the door. We also asked to use the phone in a vacated room so we would not have to go all the way back around, across the street, and down to the front desk. Finally, my husband convinced the hosuekeeper to let us to use the phone. Again we were placed on hold...this time waiting for almost 15 mintues before we received any help. After 15 minutes, I decided to go back down and only then did security show up to open the door to our room. We retrieved our packages and moved rooms. The room in the maintower was clean, but here too the wallpaper was peeling and there was a faint musty smell. We ended up being late to lunch where we were to meet our friends, who drove from Minnesota to see us. When we returned to the hotel at 10:15 p.m. that night, we were unable to get room service...The hotel quits serving at 10 p.m.
The next morning we ordered room service for breakfast. The meal was not correct, leaving off our drinks, but the hotel did not hesitate to charge us for them.
In all, this was probably the worst hotel stay that I have ever experienced. I will NEVER recommend or stay at this hotel again. As a new Radisson Rewards member, I also doubt that if given a choice will ever stay at a Radisson again if this is how the properties are maintained. Overall, this was not worth the +$100 a night we spent. Our anniversary trip was ruined by the constant problems that we had to deal with during our stay.
