Rude staff and substandard room and spa A review of The Elms Hotel and Spa
My husband and I went to the Elms to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in June 2003. We were unfortunately very disappointed.
Nearly all of the staff were in high school and did not excel in customer service. For example, no one ever did come to our room after I called twice asking for a new iron in our room to replace the crusty and unusable one that we found in our room. You could not see out of the windows in the first suite my husband and I were given becasue of the enormous air conditioning units sitting on the roof line below the room. Our second room had a slightly improved view. Both rooms were worn. The hotel brags about the spa, but should not. It is in a musty basement with few spa-like amenities. My husband and I were given paper-thin robes and asked to wait in the waiting area after we changed while people in the spa stood in the hallway to talk. Also, the pool was taken over in the evening by a large group of junior high basketball camp boys. My husband and I found the restaurant to be nice and to have good food though the grounds could have been maintained better. The food and the 14 person outdoor hot tub are the only things the elms should brag about. Since my husband and I's visit, we have been told that the rooms people can buy time shares in are nice and well kept while the rest of the hotel is not.
