Romantic, But stay in the main Hotel A review of The Sagamore
A beautiful, historic hotel with an extremely friendly staff. We visited during the off-season (May 1, 2), but we enjoyed the sereness of Lake George more than had it been bustling with hundreds of people. We sat out back on the adirondack chairs, mesmorized by the beauty of Lake George, sailboats, kayakers, all while enjoying high tea, finger sandwiches, shrimp cocktails, and drinks, served by our great waiter Aaron. The dinner was good (make sure you get Joseph as your bartender and waiter), the brunch next day was delicious. Our hotel room was impeccably decorated with amazing colors, a comfortable poster bed, a view of the lake, and a shower you don't want to come out of. We upgraded from the lodge to the main hotel, and it was a wise choice. You can only enjoy the grounds if you are part of the main hotel. Make sure you take a walk over to the pool and spa. Read the wall that explains the history of the hotel to understand why the Sagamore is so special, and don't miss the original menu items from the late 1800's.
