ROBBED at the cape! A review of Cape Santa Maria Beach Resort & Villas
My husband and I had our wedding on Long Island the weekend of 6/25/05. We've been to Long Island before and Love it. Although we have had problems with the managers of this resort before, we figured the beautiful beachfront bungalows would be suitable for our guests. While most stayed at nearby Stella Maris resort, we had 6 rooms booked at Cape Santa Maria resort.
All of our guests were informed of the "no locks on the doors" policy at this resort and told that there's no crime so it would be safe. Unfortunately, this was not the case. All members of our wedding party were broken into that night. One guest who was awake found the intruder on her porch. She found him before he had a chance to take anything, but others (including my husband and I) were not so lucky. Our dear friends lost over $15,000 worth of her jewerly, including her engagement and wedding rings, and watch. Upon reporting the news the next morning to the staff, they not only were given no reassurance, but were charged for the soft drink they ordered! Furthermore, upon checkout, no one was informed that others in the party were broken into.
The managers (who were OFF the island for the ENTIRE weekend) were unsymapthetic and not responsive upon learning about the events that had transpired, even questioning if it had happened at all! This is unacceptable and will be dealt with but I would advise all potential guests to avoid this resort at all costs.
