Reno Business Trip A review of The Sands Regency Casino Hotel
Was in Reno in September, 2003 and stayed 5 nights at the Sands Regency. The room was clean and comfortable, with a fantastic 14th floor view of downtown. Self-parking was convienent in the garage. The shower was powerful, but took about 10 minutes in the early evening to get warmed up. In the morning, the shower was warm right away. The biggest downside to the room was the noise from the trains running by the hotel. It seemed that every couple of hours a train goes through and blasts a whistle at every intersection. I turned up the fan on the AC to high, and that helped short term, but it automatically kicks off after 15 minutes or so. Needless to say, I didn't get much sound sleep. The casino was small but friendly. I did OK on the slots other machines. Lots of nickel machines abound. The restaurants overall were adequate. The Tony Romas was tasty, the Italian Buffet was pretty good for the price, and Mel's was just OK (not great).Next business trip I'm going to stay elsewhere away from the downtown. I just couldn't enough sleep with all of those trains going by.
