Relaxing, unspoilt and friendly service A review of Baia Grande
Went to this hotel just after Easter this year. Found the rooms, breakfast and staff were of a good standard and the pool area and bar by the pool was a real winner. I think all rooms come with a balcony too (worth paying the extra for a sea view). Lovely surrounding area, did not encounter barking dogs, great bars nearby and felt more exclusive than Albufeira itself. Sao Raphael beach was gorgeous, about 10 minute walk away and very chic and unspoilt by tourists (at that time of the year).
I would say the hotel would attract an older clientele. As a couple in our twenties there weren't many people our age at this time of the year and there was a piano bar with questionable taste in music (think green green grass of home). I would agree that small children might get bored but there are water parks and other sorts of entertainment nearby.
Great for a relaxing break, wouldn't recommend the evening buffet but the Italian restaurant was pretty good.
Good base for exploring and if you like to get away from the hotel I would recommend you would need to hire a car (the hotel does lay on a few tours if needed).
