Really not worth it A review of Atlantis - Royal Towers
Was really looking forward to our trip to Atlantis, but was disappointed when we actually went. We booked a waterview room in the Royal Towers ($550 per night) and when we got to our room, it was on the second floor overlooking a massive dirt construction site, with no view of the water at all. It took a number of stressful phone calls to the front desk to get them to move us, and no apology for putting us in that room. Although the hotel itself is quite lovely, it is much too large and going anywhere is a long walk. Went on a very crowded week and had to get up at 7:30 every morning to try to snag a chair at the pool. The biggest surprise of all to me was the demeanor of the hotel employees. They did not try to be pleasant to guests at all, and if you try to correct them on something or ask to sit at a different table, for instance, they became quite rude and unpleasant. My guess is that it is because the tip is included in all bills, so there is no reason to provide good service. Would recommend that families consider staying in the Beach or Coral Towers rather than the Royal Towers. Although the Royal Towers is newer, they do not have balconies and the Royal Towers is much further away from all the action. The Beach and Coral Towers have very nice pools, waterslides and a lovely lazy river pool that the kids really enjoy. The teen club is also located in that area and our daughter spent every night there and made good friends. The vacation was not horrible, but it was not worth the price and was a bit stressful.
