Really liked the Holiday Inn Express A review of Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Ventura Harbor
My wife and I are in Ventura for three days, (July 13-15, 2006). We originally were going to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Carpentaria about 20 minutes north, but after reading the reviews of recent guests to this hotel we decided to give it a shot. We have not regretted it at all!
As other members have mentioned the hotel is actually an extended seperated wing of the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. The hotel is quite, five or six minutes off the freeway, rooms are large and comfortable. Our room had two queen beds, small fridge, a 42 inch Flat Screen TV, Coffee Maker, and nice size Bathroom (great shower). All rooms on the second and third floors overlook the marina with nice private balconies. Because the hotel is basically an extension of the Four Points Sheraton guests have full access to all the amenities of the Sheraton including the Pool and Jacuzzi which we enjoyed eveyday.
During our stay they were renovating the Holiday Inn Breakfast Dining area so we were given the option of either a box breakfast or coupon to eat in the Sheraton Dining Room we opted for the Sheraton coupon.
There are six or seven nice restaurants in the Marina Shopping Area 0.8 miles away. We walked there using the sidewalk/bike trail along the edge of the marina took less then 10 minutes. There are Italian, Mexican, Seafood, Sochi Restaurants and an Ice Cream Parlor. We tired the Italian and sat out on the balcony and drank excellent margaritas and nachos.
There is a great beach is just past the Marina Shopping Area on the other side of the road about 1.2 miles from the hotel. (Plenty of free parking if you drive, we walked.)
Since we have friends in the area and do come to Ventura every now and then we have just decided this will be our first choice of hotels for the foreseeable future.
