Radission beat Rydge for a couples holiday A review of Ramada Resort Port Douglas
We stayed 3 nights at Rydges Resort and 3 nights at Radisson Treetops (they are across the road from each other). Both were in hotel rooms and costs was the same. We definitely found the Radisson to be better pick, more modern rooms, nice pool and great restaurant by the pool.
The apartments at Rydges may have been OK, but the hotel rooms were small, cramped and old and room facilities at Radisson were much more polished. If you have young kids and what the beach club for them and 4-5 pools then check in at Rydges and select the larger suites with kitchens (some back directly onto pools), if you are a couple wanting a relaxing break and nice meals then my tip would be Radisson treetops, particularly if you are selecting just the standard hotel rooms. Port Douglas itself is fantastic, make sure you take Quicksilver or other craft to Outer Barrier Reef for an excellent day. In central Port Douglas the restaurant "On the Inlet" with corresponding take-out "At the Outlet" are fantastic, fresh seafood and excellent views and prawn and wine buckets for happy hour in afternoon, not to be missed, we went there twice!
