Quality Begins and Ends With Breakfast A review of Quality Inn & Suites Biltmore East
A convenient location and really good hot continental breakfast didn't quite make up for the disappointment with the motel itself. It must have earned its three diamonds from the breakfast alone. We chose this motel on the basis of the AAA rating and the Asheville Visitor's Guide description, and were very disappointed generally. All rooms are outside access only, with no elevator to the upper floors. Our room, though clean, was sparsely furnished but quite cramped nevertheless. Not much space to even move around. Upon arrival, we found the sink stopper stuck in the closed position. Later, the smoke detector kept going off. We were told by the front desk to remove the battery and they would replace it the next day. They didn't. The air conditioner disturbed our sleep because of its noise. We came back from a day of sightseeing to find that Housekeeping had neglected to lock the door, and on another day we found the bed pillows on the floor. On the plus side, access to downtown Asheville, I40 and I240 is easy. There's a microwave and minifridge in the room and, as mentioned earlier, the complimentary breakfast was super - included hot sausage, biscuits and fresh-made, real waffles. We are experienced travelers who really goofed with this one. All-in-all, not good value for the money we paid.
